...No Day Like Today to Start a Blog

Here goes nothing. The present is here, so I must begin…….
Exciting stories to tell, boring events to recount, pics of “the moment” to archive, and more…. much, much more. I don’t think I’ll try to go back and bring you up to date. Let’s just start with this year, or last week. Hmmm…..let’s see……my favorite hobby, maybe?

PLANTING REGGIE

As has become my custom, my boxing day begins with picking up Hawkeye and Jdog, feeding my destination in to my gps (her name is Scarlet), and heading out on our next adventure. We have two boxes we want to find and one to plant. Rock Springs Park is our choice for this day. Once there, we were a little slow deciding where to start. It’s a big, new, beautiful park, but it has two entrances with two different parking lots! Finally we parked in a space by a pavilion, took the connector trail, made a right or left? decision, and were on with the hunt. The first box took us to a beautiful little spot off the main trail and prying eyes – great place for a hide and to log in!

Now, on to the next box! After making our way back to the trail, we begin searching in the distance ahead for signs of a long bridge. After finding a couple short bridges (neither fit our clues), we got sidetracked by a mulch trail heading off into the woods. Needless to say, our desire to explore overrides our bridge hunt, and we head off into the woods to see where the trail leads. It played out at a ravine. We could see where the trail picked back up on the other side, but the bridge isn’t built yet. Markers indicate it is yet to come. Oh, well.

I decided this might be a great part of the park to hide my Reggie’s First Love letterbox, so we started to explore the ravine to the left. First we needed to find a simple way across. We quickly realized that wasn’t happening, so we chose a spot, slid down the bank to the trickle of water below, and climbed up the other side. Now to find a good hide. So many good options, but nothing seemed right yet. Splitting up, but heading in the same general direction, we search for “that” spot. Check it out the clues on Atlasquest.com, box name "Reggie's First Love." I haven't figured out how to create a link to it yet. Hey! This is my first blog!

Eventually we turned back towards the paved trail to continue our search for the second box. We had covered most of the paved trail earlier, so there was not much left to check out. Yep, we found it, stamped in, and went, satisfied with a successful day, back to the car.
Oh!! Wait a minute!!!! There’s daylight left! Can’t stop now! We dug out more clues. There were other boxes further up I-85 we had saved for another day, having run out of daylight on the day we were there before. Today we beat the setting sun!

After taking Hawkeye and Jdog home, I headed to meet my youngest daughter at our nail place to get my nails done. I walked in, and before I could spot her, I hear, “MOTHER!! What in the world do you do to get so dirty!?” (My kids don’t make me feel old. They make me feel like a little girl!*sarcasm dripping*)
